Postnatal Care at Her Holistic Physio
Postpartum physiotherapy in Boronia
Hi, Mama.
I’m not sure where you’re at in your postpartum journey, but by now I’m sure you know that this period is not simply a return to “normal”. It’s a time of profound physical adaptation — layered with caring for a baby, disrupted sleep, increased physical load, and often a quiet pressure to get back to who you were before.
Many women arrive at postpartum physiotherapy feeling unsure. Unsure what pain is expected, what movement is safe, or whether their body will ever feel familiar again. At Her Holistic Physio, postpartum care is slow, considered, and centred around your lived experience and gentle goals — not timelines or rigid expectations.
Your body has carried, birthed, fed, soothed, lifted, and adapted. Physiotherapy in this season is not about fixing you; it’s about supporting your body as it recalibrates to new demands.

Postpartum physiotherapy can support:
- Low back pain
- Hip and/or pelvic pain
- Neck pain and/or headaches
- Shoulder or upper back pain related to feeding and carrying
- Wrist and thumb pain
- Abdominal separation and changes in trunk support
- Postural strain and fatigue
- Returning to movement and exercise at a pace that feels safe and sustainable
- Understanding how your breath, core and pelvic floor are working together (note: I DO NOT do pelvic floor assessments)
Care is evidence-based and hands-on, while also recognising the impact of nervous system load, sleep deprivation, and emotional demands in the postpartum period.
What care looks like
Postpartum sessions are unrushed and conversational. We take time to understand:
- What your days actually look like
- What your body is being asked to do repeatedly
- What feels most challenging right now
From there, we create a plan that blends targeted treatment, movement support, and practical strategies you can integrate into real life — not an idealised version of it.
There are no ‘one-size fits all’ programs here. Progress is guided by your capacity, not by how long it’s been since you gave birth.
Consultation options:
- We always begin with a 60-75 minute Initial Consultation – click here for what to expect
- Follow-up sessions can continue as regular Physiotherapy reviews (45 minutes) with a focus on assessment, hands-on care and tailored exercise programs
- AND / OR you can move into 1:1 Guided Exercise Sessions, which are 30-minute, exercise-focused sessions with no hands-on or in-depth assessment, but the feel of a guided class in a 1:1 context

I have been working with postpartum women as a Physiotherapist since 2017, and I’ve also navigated this season myself after the birth of my daughter in 2021.
Through years of clinical work and lived experience, I’ve seen how varied and deeply personal the postpartum journey can be. While certain patterns may arise, no two women recover, adapt, or reconnect with their bodies in the same way.
Whether you’re early postpartum or years down the track, experiencing pain, hesitancy around movement, or simply wanting support to feel more at home in your body again, postpartum physiotherapy at Her Holistic Physio offers a grounded, compassionate place to begin.
